I was out doing some holiday shopping earlier, and snapped a few pictures of my town, Buffalo NY. Thought I'd post them here for anyone that might be interested in where I come from.

The first stop. Elmwood Poster Art. |
This is a shop in Elmwood Village. I spent most of my early teens in this neighborhood when I was a kid. It use to be all bars, punk rockers, and skateboard kids, now over the years it's beginning to undergo gentrification, and is home to mostly hipsters and yuppies. Still a fun neighborhood to shop, and I didn't realize it at the time, but Elmwood Poster Art had just what I was looking for.

The S&M Markets |
I passed this as I waited at a light, and couldn't help but giggle at the name. It's a neighborhood grocery, but I wonder if anyone ever accidentally stopped in there looking for some leather whips, and a bottle of KY. Come on, you thought it too.

Black Rock New York Baby! |
This is in Black Rock. It's in a college neighborhood, I just liked the mural, so I took a picture.

Tell me this doesn't look creepy. |
This is the old insane asylum. I think it was SyFy Ghost Hunters did a TV special here. Ever since I was a kid, the place had tales of being haunted. We broke in one night and did a little urban exploring and the place definitely had a creepy vibe to it. Some of the rooms still had shackles and chains where they would keep the mentally unstable patients. All I'll say about that, is we pushed each other to explore as much of the place as possible, but I think everyone was relieved when we finally decided to leave. The place is currently being renovated as a high end hotel. I wonder if they'll tell the guests it was once a haunted insane asylum. LOLZ

Side entrance to the insane asylum. |
I forget how old this building is but it's really old. It will make a really nice hotel when finished. It's one of the things I love about Buffalo. The city is filled with all kinds of old Victorian architecture, and cute little neighborhoods.

My old stomping grounds. I just about lived in this bar all throughout my 20's. |
This is my old stomping grounds. I just about lived in here from my 20's to my early 30's. The bar use to be called the Pink Flamingo and when I hung out was home to bikers, metal heads, punk rockers, and all the local riff raff. Now it's just referred to as the Old Pink. Good freakin times here! I still stop in there from time to time, and the place hasn't really changed much over the years.

Here's one of those cute neighborhoods I was talking about. |
This is down the street from the bar. I love this neighborhood. The area is called Allentown, and they host a huge Art Festival here each year. I think it's the second biggest Art Festival in the country. People come from all over to check it out.I'll post more pictures of Allentown , it's one of my favorite parts of the city.
Well, that's it. Our tour of Buffalo has come to an end. I'll post more pictures from time to time. Thanks for checking them out and feel free to comment.
